The correctional officer reports to the designated sergeant or shift lieutenant. Responsible for the custody and discipline of offenders in the facility in compliance with MTC and Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) directives.

Essential Functions:

Maintain the secure custody and security of offenders including observation of offenders, which includes long periods of sitting and standing.

Search for contraband, count, and feed offenders in housing, work, or other areas as assigned.

Transfer and transport offenders by walking or riding in vehicles.

Restrain and secure assaultive offenders as needed.

Respond to emergencies to search for inmates, administer first aid at the emergency site, carry an injured or unconscious offender, and use force, including chemical agents to control inmates.

Not less than two (2) years of responsible work experience following high school graduation.
